In any card access system, a valid card triggers the reader to open the barrier gate. But how can the gate automatically close after a vehicle has passed through?
This is made possible with the enhanced EWI Loop Detector (Model: BRD05). Designed for reliability, the EWI loop detector detects changes in inductance caused by a vehicle passing over the loop coil. Even if there are changes in cable condition, road surface, or other unforeseen interference, the system remains stable and secure.
Additionally, the loop detector is tamper-resistant. Its main control unit is securely housed inside the barrier gate, making it difficult to access or manipulate externally.
Preventing Barrier Arm Collision with Vehicles
The loop detector also plays a critical role in safety. It prevents the barrier arm from closing too early while a vehicle is still passing through. As the vehicle crosses the loop, the system detects the interruption in the circuit and keeps the gate open, ensuring it doesn’t close on the car.
Furthermore, if a second vehicle enters the loop area while the barrier arm is lowering, the BRD05 loop detector will immediately trigger the arm to auto-reverse—effectively preventing any potential collision.
Preventing Unauthorized Human Access Through Barrier Gate Lanes
The BRD05 loop detector functions as a metal detector and is designed specifically to detect vehicles—not humans. As such, it will not trigger the barrier arm to descend if a person attempts to walk through the lane.
Preventing Entry from the Opposite Direction
In scenarios where a card access system is not used, the BRD05 loop detector can be configured to automatically open the barrier gate upon detecting a vehicle. By positioning the loop coil to detect traffic from only one direction, the system effectively prevents unauthorized entry from the opposite side—ensuring directional control and enhancing security.
